YOUR CHARITABLE LEGACY - THE VALUES THAT DEFINE YOU

It is critical to have documents in place to handle the distribution of your possessions and assets. This is best accomplished by having a will or trust that can serve as a road map for this distribution. These documents – a will, trust, etc. —  can also tell the story of your life and values after you are gone.

Beyond your loved ones and the assets you will leave to them, it’s worth taking the time to consider what else has defined your life and the values you hope  to impart to the next generation. These values are often demonstrated by the organizations and causes you supported during your lifetime, like Robin Hood!

As you reflect on your legacy, please consider a gift to Robin Hood so that we can continue to make a lasting, positive impact on future generations of New Yorkers in need.

A gift to Robin Hood in your will or trust gives you maximum flexibility. It is easy to arrange, revocable and even comes with possible tax savings. There are various types of estate gifts, including general, specific, residual, contingent, restricted and unrestricted.

If you would like to leave a charitable legacy to Robin Hood, please share the suggested wording below with your legal adviser:

I give to Robin Hood Foundation, a New York nonprofit (Tax ID #13-3441066), or its successor, the sum of $___________________, for any purpose as Robin Hood deems appropriate.

I give to Robin Hood Foundation, a New York nonprofit (Tax ID #13-3441066), or its successor (the real estate located at __________________ or 1,000 shares of XYZ stock), for any purpose as Robin Hood deems appropriate.

I give to Robin Hood Foundation, a New York nonprofit (Tax ID #13-3441066), or its successor, ________% of the rest of my estate, for any purpose as Robin Hood deems appropriate.

If you already have a will or trust, review the documents to determine if any changes in your family or other circumstances warrant revising the document. If you have an existing will or trust, you can add an amendment to include Robin Hood. If you don’t have a will or trust, contact an attorney to have these documents prepared.
